Shekhar Kapur, a national award winning director who has directed movies like Elizabeth and Mr. India is gearing up for his next big project. According to recent reports, Shekhar Kapur is going to direct a film based on the life of the legendary actor and martial arts expert Bruce Lee.

As Shekhar Kapur has directed historical biopic based on the life of Queen Elizabeth in the past, expectations with this venture are going to be high. Interestingly, his movie Elizabeth went on to win two Oscar Awards as well as BAFTA Award for the Best Film Award. Bandit Queen, another biopic directed by Shekhar Kapur won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi.\

Shekhar Kapur shared his intentions regarding the tentatively titled ‘Little Dragon’ movie, “It is important that audiences today can relate their lives to the journey of Bruce Lee, who manages to tap into his inner wisdom and harness his true destiny before it was too late.”

Bruce Lee’s daughter shared her feelings concerning the movie. She said, “I always thought that a film about how my father’s life was shaped in his early years in Hong Kong would be a worthwhile story to share so we could better understand him as a human being and a warrior.”

“I’m really excited that Shekhar will breathe life into the first film from Bruce Lee Entertainment,” she added. She is also the producer of the movie. The film will be produced under the banner Bruce Lee Entertainment. Shannon has dug deeper to study the early life of Bruce Lee and helped Shekhar Kapur acting as a co-writer in the shaping up the screenplay of the movie.

Dadi Media Group, Shanghai Longzhilin Cultural Investment Partnership, Beijing Golden World Pictures and Kirin Media will finance the production of the film. Shooting will begin in July in Malaysia.
