Nushrat Bharucha Announces Her Next Film ‘Chhori’, Says ‘Something Shockingly Scary Is Coming Your Way’


Nushrat Bharucha was last seen opposite Ayushman Khurrana in ‘Dream Girl’. She is now all set to play the lead role in ‘Chhori’. The movie is a Hindi remake of the award-winning Marathi movie ‘Lapachhapi’.

 Taking to her Instagram account, Nushrat wrote, “Thrilled to announce my next film, #Chhori (#छोरी) – Something shockingly scary is coming your way! Excited to work with @abundantiaent @crypttv @ivikramix @notjackdavis and with the amazing @furia_vishal #Psych @shikhaarif.sharma @raedita @thevishalkapoor”

Bharucha started film career with ‘Jai Santoshi Maa’ in 2006 and Kal Kissne Dekha in 2009. Her next release was a suspense film by Dibakar Banerjee, Love Sex Aur Dhokha. In 2011, she starred in Luv Ranjan’s drama Pyaar Ka Punchnama, featuring a collaborative cast where she was cast opposite actor Kartik Aaryan.

Bharucha was then featured in Ranjan’s 2013 romantic drama named Akaash Vani which was unsuccessful she was the nominal female lead cast opposite Aaryan and Sunny Nijar. Her first film of the year 2015 Darr @ The Mall starring opposite Jimmy Sheirgill, was a disaster at the box-office. 

Later that same year, she was in a sequel of Pyaar Ka Punchnama titled Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2, where she was paired opposite Aaryan, alongside a debutante Sunny Singh Nijar. It was her first big commercial success.

The actress is now all set to explore different genres from rom-com starting with horror. The actress took her social media account to announce her latest project leaving her fans in anticipation.

The Marathi film in 2017 caught the people’s attention as it expressed the story of the age-old societal practice and belief that gives rise to the tales of pure terror. The film has a unique blend of horror and social drama that will give a thrilling as well as an emotional ride. 

Keeping all the essence intact, the script of ‘Chhori’ will be written by Vishal Kapoor who is also the writer of the original film. Also, the Hindi remake will be directed by Vishal Furia who had also directed ‘Lapachhapi’.

While the story revolves around Nushrat’s character, it will be thrilling to see her in a new avatar on screen. Other than ‘Chhori’, Nushrat also has some other interesting projects queued. She will then be seen in ‘Chhalaang’ opposite Rajkummar Rao and ‘Hurdang’ alongside Sunny Kaushal.
