It’s a very shocking news that Eid release of Salman Khan, Tubelight failed at the box-office. The collections of the film show that the movie could not survive for a long time at the screens. Audience severely rejects this Kabir Khan’s directed film.
The movie has grossed 120 crores net at the Indian box-office till now. It is a pretty modest collection for Salman Khan film. This tremendous loss of the ‘Tubelight’ disappointed the distributors.
Reportedly, Sultan fame has agreed to pay 55 crores to the distributors to compensate the loss of the movie. This reveals out a grand gesture of Bollywood star. At this time, the audience chooses the story of the film rather the star cast. So, it was the tough time for the makers.
The story of Tubelight was similar to American film ‘Little Boy’. It stars Salman’s brother Sohail Khan in a principal role and late film- actor Om Puri. It was set against the backdrop of the 1962 Indo-China War. Tubelight also starred Chinese actress Zhu Zhu and eight-year-old Arunachal actor Matin Rey Tangu. The film shows an emotional journey of Laxman who look for his brother post the war ends.
As similar to Salman, Shah Rukh Khan too paid up to 50% for the losses of Dilwale to distributors. He also paid for other unsuccessful films like Paheli and even Asoka.
Since the start of the year, 2017 is not for Salman Khan, but he will make up for his Christmas release ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’. The film is starring Katrina Kaif opposite Salman as it is a sequel to Ek Tha Tiger which made a collection of 198 crores at the box office.
Let’s wait and watch if collections of Salman’s ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’ will hit the box-office or not.
